Fatih Complex was built by Sultan Mehmet the Conquarer in the years between 1463-1470. The complex includes a set of well planned buildings constructed around a mosque.
They include a medresse, a library, a hospital, a caravanserai, a market, a hamam. The original mosque was the center of complex no longer stands today. Present construction was built in 18th century after the badly damage of earthquakes.
3 days in Fatih Mosque free of charge
Visitors who came to mosque with servant and horse could stay 3 days in here free of charge, when mosque opened first time. There were 150 rooms around the mosque for poor people of town. Poors resided here and daily money was given them. Provision of medicine was made free.

On the kiblah (Mekke) side of Fatih Mosque are the tombs of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, his wife Gülbahar Hatun and Sultan II. Mahmud’a mother Nakşıdil Hatun. The Caravanserai of the Fatih Mosque was repaired in 1980’s.
