There are two international airports in Istanbul. These are Ataturk Airport and Sabiha Gokcen Airport. The number of airport will be three in 2017 in Istanbul. Hazarfen Airport which takes place in Arnavutkoy gives service only as a private airport.

Ataturk Airport
Ataturk Airport or with its old name Yesilkoy Airport is the international airport in the European Side of Istanbul. Ataturk Airport where is the first air movement in Turkey in the early 1900s was opened international air traffic in 1953 in Turkey. Its name changed in 29 July, 1985 as an Ataturk International Airport. The founder of Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s surname was given this airport’s name. According to data of 2012 years, Ataturk Airport has the 20th most rammed passenger traffic in the world. According to data of Turkey, it is the first airport in the point of passenger traffic. Average 1100 planes make flight daily in this airport. It is in the most important transit passenger airport of Europe. Distance of Ataturk Airport for some city centers in Istanbul :

Transportation of airport provides by bus (Havatas, IETT( Istanbul electric tramvay and tunnel establishments)), taxi and line of light metro.

Sabiha Gokcen Airport
Sabiha Gokcen International Airport is the second airport which is built in Pendik. Airport take its name from the first woman combat pilot and first Turkish woman pilot Sabiha Gokçen. Airport is managed by Limak-GMR-MAHB Consortium. Ground services, operation, cargo and security operations are conducted by ISG (Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport Investment Production Management Incorporation.

There are buses from Kadıkoy to Sabiha Gokcen Airport periodically.

Istanbul Hazarfen Airport
Istanbul Hazarfen Airport which is located within the boundaries of Arnavutkoy and the north of Buyukcekmece Lake has a land measure of 500 square metres. Since 1992, it gives service as the first private international registered airport in Turkey.
