Optimist Hotel is one of the two hotels located at the very heart of Sultanahmet, in the historical hippodrome square, where so many centuries of culture and history can be felt. The hotel, situated in a renovated building, gives you a taste of the Ottoman style and offers you the traditional Turkish hospitality. Our hotel is facing The Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet) and is literally within five minutes' walking distance from Hagia Sophia,Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar.
Optimist Hotel can be the perfect place to enjoy Istanbul, it being a very cozy establishment with only four rooms. We have only one room per floor, and every room has a French type balcony with a direct view of the Blue Mosque.
At Optimist Hotel we have a bar and a small restaurant/café at your disposal (including alcoholic drinks service) to make your stay a wonderful experience. Our team members will do their best to make you feel welcome and at home while on holidays in this mistifying and beautiful world city.

Chose this hotel for it's proximity to the Blue Mosque, and for location it is unbeatable. Though you must get the top floor, so you are above the tree tops, allowing you to see the Aya Sofia as well as the Blue Mosque - it's a fantastic view. Everything else about the hotel isn't so great, so it all depends on what you are looking for. Though friendly, the service isn't top, but with only four rooms (one on each floor, the top one being a homemade addition) the staff's concern is more on the street level bar/restaurant.

Excellent location at Hippodrome and near Blue Mosque. Hard to find so suggest directions be posted online or included in reservation confirmation. Wonderfully friendly and supportive staff. Rooms are modest but well priced for excellent service, wonderful location, and nice rooms. Highly recommended!

Superb staff and hospitality - the best of Turkish warmth and friendship without the money grabbing so prevalent in Egypt. Hotel was being renovated- so I had the Terrace room- with the most spectacular views of Agia Sofia, Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome and the sea beyond. The manager/owner Mohammed is a genuine hotelier, and his nephew Kudret was such good company and fun. And such hard workers! PS- you have to have an evening meal at MM Cafe in Sultanhamet - nearby and live music and dancing. Food was excellent- and while it might be considered a little pricey for a smaller hotel, the experience has me booking again for more. Rory Kilalea
