Every year, around spring time, in April, there’s an explosion of Tulips in İstanbul. This beautiful flower has been a symbol of the city throughout the history and its cultivation started in the Ottoman times. Called “lale” in Turkish, these flowers even gave the name to the wealthiest period of the Ottoman era: Tulip Devri, The Tulip Era.
As a tribute to these past times, since 2006, the Turkish Government has decided to plant millions of Tulips all over city parks and green spaces. Some places in the city like Emirgan Groves, Göztepe Park and Sultanahmet Square, host several activities to entertain their visitors.
Visit İstanbul in its most magical time of the year and you won’t leave disappointed.
