The Istanbul Islamic Sciences and Technological History Museum is located in the stables belonging to the palace in Gülhane Park. This museum is quite recent. It was opened in 2008. Visitors to the museum have a chance to see in the Islamic scientific tradition by looking at the details of the exact replicas of the scientific and technical achievements. The hundreds of findings and discoveries that muslim scientists made between the 8th and the 17th century, and that later on fell into oblivion, have been copied and are exhibited in this museum.
More than 800 objects
The Istanbul Islamic Sciences and Technological History Museum is unique in the world. The systematic presentation of objects from astronomy, geography, nautics, time measurement, geometry, optics, medicine, chemistry, mineralogy, physics, technics, architecture and military techniques, shows how crucial discoveries were made in Islamic civilization and were transmitted in different ways to Europe, where they were adopted, assimilated, and altered. More than 800 objects are shown in the The Istanbul Islamic Sciences and Technological History Museum. The museum consists of three buildings, that together have a surface of 3,500 m2.
There are cinevision where can be watched various visuals about museum and the parts of astronomy, watch technology, marine, war technology and medicine in the upstairs. There are also Mining, Physics, Mathematics and Geometry, Urbanism and Architecture, Optics, Chemistry and lastly maps about Geography and map drawing section in the downstairs. Work’s pattern and casts of Islamic Scholars are exhibited in the whole showrooms.
