Cibali district starting besides the Unkapanı Bridge is also the starting point of the west side of Golden Horn. The locality is named after Cebe Ali. Romour has it that, Cebe Ali living in the same district went against the blockade. He is a Dervish who challenged to stop the war not damage the people in Constantinople but died during the blockade. Other than the Tekel Factory turned into a university, the most important structure in Cibali is Gül Mosque.
Fener is the last area conquested by Sultan Mehmet II
Fener locality comes after Cibali. Before Ottoman rule, it was named ‘Fanarion’, because the most important light house of Haliç shores was located in here. In the same period, the light house was entered through the Door of Light House named ‘Porta Fari’ located on the sea ramparts. Since this is the last area conquested, Fatih Sultan Mehmet provided privilege to this district. Therefore, the rish Greek people gathered in Fener (Lighthouse).
House of Dimitri Kandemir
Before and after the conquest, this was the popular place of Greek nobels. There were also Greek in other parts of the citybut they were generally in Fener. Majority of the governors assigned to Wallachia and Moldova region were from Fener. The most important one was Dimitri Kantemir who used speak in ten languages, and so he was honored by a library with his name in France. Kantemir who became a Moldovia Prince in 1710 was also an Ottoman Historian.
