The Pavilion was constructed for Egyptian Hidiv Abbas Hilmi Paşa in 1907 by Itailan architect, Delfo Seminati. The Pavilion occupies an area of 1000 square meters. And it was built in an art-nouveau style.
The Last Khedive of Egypt
When Egypt gained its independence from the Ottoman Empire, The Last Khedive of Egypt Abbas Hilmi Paşa, was dismissed from his position, then settled in the Hidiv Pavilion with his family.
Bosphorus view from watchtower
There are in many parts of the building very elaborate fountains and pools. Rooms are located on the upper floor.The ceiling of pavilion is covered by stained glass. Visitors can view the Bosphorus from the pavilions watchtower.
After the Khedive of Egypt left Istanbul in the 1930s, Hidiv Pavilion was purchased by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The pavilion was reopened in 1984 as a hotel, restaurant, and cafeteria.
