Beyazıd Mosque and complex was build in the years between 1550-1505 by architect Yakubşah bin Sultan. It was the second largest imperial mosque complex in Istanbul. The complex is composed of a mosque, a kitchen, a primary school, a hospital, a medrese, a hamam, a soup kitchen for poors and a caravarserai. And mosque is the center of the complex.

Soup kitchen is library, the medresse is museum
The soup kitchen and Caravanserai are left of the mosque anda re used today by the Beyazid State Library. The medresse is now Museum of the Turkish Foundation of Calligraphy. Behind the mosque is a small garden, consists of tombs of Sultan Beyazıd II, his daughter Selçuk Hatun.

Fast Facts Because the mosques are the sacred places for muslims, there are several cases needed to be paid attention during visits; 1. Mosques must be visited between the prayer times. If you come across the prayer times, you can visit the mosque after the community leaves. 2. Women come to mosques by covering their heads with scarves while the men wear coifs before going in.
